Certifications

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) certification is a mandatory marking for products placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales), signifying conformity to UK regulations. Within the context of structural steel, UKCA Execution Class 2 (EXC2) falls under the BS EN 1090 standard, which governs the design, fabrication, and assembly of steel and aluminium structures.
Execution Class 2 applies to structures with moderate levels of complexity and risk, such as residential, commercial, and Industrial buildings, as well as bridges and other infrastructure projects. It ensures that steel components are fabricated and installed in accordance with strict quality and safety standards.

SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) is a UK-wide organisation that streamlines health and safety assessments for suppliers and contractors, promoting mutual recognition among its member schemes, such as CHAS, SMAS, and SafeContractor. By adhering to a standardised set of core criteria, SSIP ensures that businesses meet legal health and safety requirements, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015. The importance of SSIP lies in its ability to simplify compliance, reduce duplication in prequalification processes, and foster efficiency in procurement. For businesses, holding SSIP accreditation enhances credibility, demonstrates a commitment to health and safety, and opens doors to a wider range of projects and clients. For buyers, it provides confidence in the contractor’s ability to manage health and safety risks effectively, ensuring a safer and more streamlined supply chain.
